You don't learn how to write by submitting a chat GPT essay or even paraphrasing one. I've taught writing all of my life and freshmen in college can't write. They need to grind out writing in order to become competent prose stylists. This cuts that process out because these whatever else is true, every sentence in these essays that I had chat GPT produce were grammatical spelled correctly, etc. And so it doesn't give that student a chance to develop one of the most important of all human skills, which is how to write for yourself.
