The Big Bang: A Pilot Mission to Measure Gravitational Waves in Space

Gravitational waves will be detected by the minute movements of so-called proof masses in space. There'll be a pilot mission next year, but the full experiment won't actually be launched until 2028. The most sensitive technique we have for measuring changes in separation is interferometry. New radar technology promises to be more accurate than existing methods.
