Is Dialectics a Part of the Marxist Tradition?
I think one of the things that gets sort of caricatured and maybe vulgarized a little bit from the Marxist tradition is this idea that revolution and communism would be literally inevitable. Careful attention to the writings of Marx and Engels suggests that a lot of faith that the workers would get their ship together on the one hand, but what they're really talking about is the opening up of possibilities. These are conditions. Like this is about a social environment that is creating horrible conditions for working people. And they make this rather self-evident statement that there's a very good chance that they'll fight back. But it doesn't mean that necessarily that they will, right?
