The glory of god seen in the face of jesus christ helps us to see that the one who was seen at various points in the old testament is also jesus Christ. Understanding these various theophanic appearances of the angel of the covenant as appearances of christ is a way in which the event of the transfiguration can serve as a key to the story of scripture.
