The Importance of Sutton Ho
i was prompted to think about sutton who partly because of the recent net flik movie called the dig, which is a fairly fictionalized version of the initial excavation at sutton ho in 19 38. 30. Part of why i was really dissatisfied with that movie is that you learn just about nothing about what was found at suttonhoe or why it was such a big deal. So i think that this is a way of a kind of opening and enriching what you consider to be history,. To take archaeology seriously and to see archaeology as continuous with the discipline of history.
