Pinky Higgins had hits in 12 consecutive at bats for the Boston Red Sox. His record-breaking single came off Detroit's Roxy Lawson. He was convicted and sentenced to four years of hard labor, which he didn't serve because he soon died himself. The streak intersected with another historic streak that actually was recognized at the time.
