Is It OK for Women to Act?
I think the main reason I pity her feel like these general sad vibes around her is because of her desperation being taken seriously as an actress. Like there are so many quotes where she's really envious of other actresses that are getting paid more or getting more serious roles. She was married to the playwright Arthur Miller, which kind of like you would think lent some legitimacy to her aspirations. But even the way that she's treated now, like most people have not seen a Marilyn Monroe film. And I think that is like the saddest part.
