"I was the caretaker, right? And I wasn't supposed to have any problems myself," he says. "My Jerry Rick duct tape attempt at trying to readjust and carry my burdens really didn't work out functionally all the time" He had no therapy when he got home from the military; his self-care took a back seat. The program allowed him to explore some of those things that he'd felt shame about or not been able to get rid of.
