If you are not aiming at the vessel, you need to fix your course. You cannot miss the vessel and then try to side swipe your way into it by just moving laterally. A needle is like a pool cue or gosh, if you fence like an epi or a foil, there is no edge. It's a point only instrument. And what that means is if you want to change your angle, you can only do it in a thrusting way. So always plan to retract your needle first, changeyour angle, and then re-advanced linearly. Your advancing is always in a straight line.
