I think the real transformation in environmental thought at the moment is that there's a lot of opportunities for evolving appropriate environmental responses in urban settings. The history of twentieth century ecology as a natural science had so focused on the pristine and the unspoiled, the unhumanized. Urban icology has only ma emerged over the last 20, 20 years. Having access to green vistas wasn't just kind of an aesthetic thing, not to denegrate aesthetics, but it wasn't just because it stimulated the senses. So having having those stories that encourage children to feel awe curiosity about the world around them can be pretty important.
