Eric Stonestreet: We're wired to want to belong. And i think that's why groups can be such powerful means of transformation, is if we can watch that process from a place of a little bit higher awareness. When you put us into a group where we don't know people, for so many of us, that's exactly what starts to happen. It's just this whole dance that happens because i feel like, i want to belong and it wasn't easy growing up not relying on external approval.
La Sarmiento has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 1998. They are the guiding teacher of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington’s BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ Sanghas, a mentor for the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program and Cloud Sangha, a contributor to the Ten Percent Happier app, and a graduate of Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader Training Program.
