The Problem of Hyphenation
The majority of the time that we spend on text is spent on something called text shaping, which is again bringing those character boxes together. So for each word at the end of a sentence, it has to check every possible hyphenation point. One of them will be the best and it will throw away the other computations. That's where it becomes really expensive. It looks like Romulus.
