I bought the book, there was a book called Just Give Money to the Poor. So I bought the book and read the book and my mind was blown. Well, that's just to tell you what development economists are doing nowadays. These are called randomized control trials. This is the gold standard in both testing medicine as well as now testing poverty alleviation strategies. The one where they just gave them outright cash was far more successful than the one with the fancy microfinance program.
