The emo and the mont blan were heading toward one another. The Montblanc tried to reverse in order to avoid a head on collision. But reversing course causes the boat to yaw, twisting it into the other ship. At this point they are side by side, parallel, very close to one another. This is when the Emo sounds her horn three times - meaning she's going in reverse.
