In an average year, there's enough food to feed about two or three barn owl chicks to the point at which they can leave the nest. But in a good year with lots of food around, you might be able to raise six or seven chicks. If you lay seven eggs and you run out of food, there's the possibility that all of the chicks will starve before any of them get a chance to fled
