God's Promise to Abram and Sarai

A famine hits and Abram decides that the best move is to soldier not over to Egypt where resources are still available. The Egyptians would see and desire Sarai and in their lust, they would kill Abram so they could have her. God has already promised Abram that his descendants would inherit the land of Canaan. If Abram is killed by the Egyptians, this promise won't be fulfilled.
