I think this is an instance where incrementalism can actually work. So if you do a gradual phase out of cars, then if you leave time for industry to reorient itself a bit, that can work. Of course, this would require government intervention. And I mean, there's a whole other wider political issue here. These protests are very clearly being funded by fossil fuel interests. There was one good investigation done by Decemog that shows that this stuff really is coming straight from the fossil fuel network here. It's entirely climate denialism all the way down.
