Custard's Dreams Changed My Life

"All I ever wanted was to feel free, like that, cantering with Custard through the woods," says author. "The mess it made, seeing all that raw flesh and brain matter spread across the trail, it literally scared me for my life." The hunters later found out they'd gotten lost in the woods and lost track of where their hunting grounds ended and where the horse trails began. It's been more than 25 years since her pony died but she still finds herself almost adverse to certain kinds of meat.
