The Difference Between Becker's Understanding of Mortality and Death Anxiety
Becker was trying to synthesize what he understood to be the essence of philosophy, religious thought and ideas that come from the humanities. He came to realize that all of them are sort of kicking against the idea of human limitations. So ultimate limitation is the limitation of mortality, the fact that we die. That's the concrete idea that is then being symbolized in all these different ways and thinkers.
