The art of science communication is figuring out how to find the right metaphors and analogies that work for people. I would say talking to kids a lot helps because they tend to associate things that you would never, never, never think of associating. If it's a specific story, what I will do is I'll just start from the middle. And especially if it's like non-related novels or books that I've enjoyed reading in the past, rereading them often reminds me, oh, this kind of helps you think.
