In 17 65, grenville's ministry passed the stamp act. It was a tax on paper used for contracts, costumes, receipts and handbills. The colonists were ready to fight it tooth and nail. But they would be rudely awoken by step two in granville's revenue plan. To wit, no taxation without representation.
