The Potential Downsides of Genetic Rescue
50% of the Great Barrier Reef has been lost already to climate change and environmental degradation. Estimates predict that by 2050, we could lose as much as 90% of the coral in the world. Scientists around the world are utilizing new technologies to crowd preserve even living coral fragments which can be transplanted onto artificial reefs. This is just the beginning of some of the work that is pioneering and can happen.
