Ed Crooks: The past two weeks were globally the hottest on record. Estimates of temperatures running back into prehistoric times suggest we may be in the world's warmest period for 125,000 years or thereabouts. Energy clearly has a big impact on those temperatures because burning fossil fuels is one of the key human activities that releases greenhouse gases. But those temperatures and climate change more broadly also have huge effects on the energy business.
