Plutarch's Cleopatra
Plutarch's portrayal of Cleopatra is extraordinary. Shakespeare often picks up on these details, he says. He points to a wonderful moment at the end of the play when Cleopatra has died and her servant, Charmia, who's about to commit suicide herself. Plutarch mentions that Cleopatra's crown isn't quite straight and Charmia adjusts it.
