Oral History as Peace Building

Oral history is used as a way to bring people from different tribes together. One of i s e film maker's father broke his back, and they buried him up to his neck every day for most of the day so that he couldn't move. They put bill bill, or chilly peppers, all over his skin and then wrapped it in cloth before burying him,. Then lit a fire behind him. And when he was finally able to see, to show that he could walk, for the whole village to see this little boy take his first steps after this terrible accident. The son of their healer becomes the symbol of their own community.
