Cold Calling
A cold call tells a student of all the people in the room right now I want to hear from you, you matter to us we need to hear your voice. Let students turn into or write first, they are more likely to succeed but also feel successful in the cold call. Use observation to be able to call out good ideas, ask students get us started so that other students will build off it and then actually let students build off of that idea. And again, it socializes maybe the most important part of participation speaking is important to participation but listening is even more important because listening is invisible.
