The Differentiating Factors in a Competitive Hiring Environment
The firms aren't looking for a bounty of expertise, they're looking for demonstrations of your ability to succeed and to maintain interest. This is the first thing on the resume side of academic work of work experience and of leadership experience. Once you have your resume and your cover letter organized, then the second piece is networking. A lot of people are surprised when they just say, I think that the networking process can be simpler and more effective.
