Sherlock holmes and his wife travel to stokemoran for a visit. They are told that their stepfather is in town on 'most important business' Holmes asks if they can see over the rooms without disturbing him. The lady says he will be away all day, so it would not disturb her. But she must go now as she has some small business matters to attend to. "My heart is lightened already since i confided my trouble in you," she said. She dropped her thick black veil over her face and glided from the room. Watson: It seems to me to be a most dark and sinister business.
