In the invisible gorilla experiment by Dan Simon and Chris Shabri they're counting how many times these players in white shirts are passing a basketball but you're ignoring that. This is a good metaphor for how our brain makes decisions we can focus system to conscious mind can focus on one specific thing at a time or not. We just don't have the mental bandwidth to take in everything in fine detail and we're just taking shortcuts and guessing at the rest of it.
