The Wagner Group and the Syrian Arab Army
Kirill Mikhailov: The Wagner Group was fighting with pro-Assad forces and pro-Iranian militias. According to some Wagner operatives, they were the first to enter any town liberated from ISIS. He says documents unearthed by the Associated Press in the Washington Post show that Wagner broke a deal with the Syrian government. And for a handsome return, they would liberate oil and gas infrastructure in eastern Syria from US-backed Kurdish forces.
