Economists were able to draw out how economists actually went about constructing economic theory. A whole structure of economic theory was built on the insight that people act deliberately, that they behaved with a purpose. It would probably come as a surprise to most people that focusing on that is itself an advance. But i think a lot of people assume that is what economists do.
