The History of the Haigromantia
The idea of high and low magic, I think throws a lot of people off. The very first thing that's in there looks like straight up witchcraft. It's binding a black demon by by stabbing a knife into a table. And to the authors of the manuscripts of what we call the haigromantia, they vary wildly. There is embedded within this a simplicity that is very accessible. You don't have to have a ton of things, just some incense, a table and and whatnot. We're going to need to go back to the year 1453 for how it got from the Byzantine Empire to Europe.
