Automater in macOS X
There are a couple of free utilities out there. And what they do as they run a scripts and put things in your menu bar. It's not quite automation, but it kind is. So i use that all the time. I literally have a dot apple script file and then there that runs apple script. The integration that automater has been given into maco s, especially into the finder, is still pretty amazing.
