The Transient Nature of Britain

What you think of as the topography of Britain today was nothing like what it was even a million years ago. A precondition for glacial conditions on this planet is almost certainly to have a continent on one or preferably both poles. What we consider the latest series of glacial ages is just one of about four, which have happened in the last billion years. We could see major sea level rises thousands of years from now - but that's not necessarily man-made global warming.
