Phonetics and Phonology
articulatory phonetics is about understanding how the lips and the tongue and also the nose are used to produce different types of sounds. Nasal compared to oral vowels is an important distinction. And when they appear in other languages they can be very difficult for English speakers to replicate. Moving on then from phonetics to phonology which is concerned with the systematic organization of sounds within languages. Now it's important to understand how phonology is different to phonetics because they might sound similar but they're not the same.
