Jeffrey Toobin: I think our system, the strangest it is with basically giving the press freedom to publish, but saying that the leakers don't have protection and there's no constitutional access to the information. He says senior national security officials in the essays are more sensitive to the need for transparency than they were 20 years ago. Toobin: People who are inside the national security world do understand that there's a lot of stuff going on that has not been disclosed. And if a word is closed, might create a lot of controversy about the various policies and practices that the national security community is pursuing.
