How Can I Make This Unpredictable?

You can, you can count on it that everybody who starts to read your story is going to expect to see a car chase and that next scene. So what you do is you don't do the car chase, or you hide the car chase in another way. If they're expecting, like they did in zero da 30, if they set up a scene that looks like it's going to be an intimate dialogue, exposition scene between two women, they turn that scene into an very active, explosive moment. And so these are ways to about when you're writing, that first instinct you have,  and then say, how can i make this unpredictable?
