The Relationship Between Zinc and Iron Absorption
In populations that are iron deficient they were quite often also be zinc deficient. There seems to be a beneficial effect of giving zinc supplements as well as iron supplements on things like the the repletion of hemoglobin so the ability of the bone marrow to produce new red cells and utilize efficiently the iron that's been absorbed from supplemental sources. So some of the mechanisms of those interactions have been looked at in a little bit more detail.
