The Utilitarian Response to the Objection

The way that you assess the welfare of a child is like considerably different than the way that one would assess the Welfare of an adult human. So what I'm wanting to capture is the unhappiness that will result from children who are not treated well and loved by their parents. And I want to account for that through the language of rights, the right to effective care. But what you're fundamentally ignoring is everyone else's pain and suffering and I'm including it. Because on your account, they have no rights at all.
