The Role of Tails in Squirrels
There is something normative about natures, and our understanding of natures should include normativity. All squirrels are subject to the norm that says that having a tail would be good. Being subject to that norm is part of what it means to be a squirrel. I think that for Aquinas, this sort of claim holds true for every kind of creature.
