David Lyons is reader in Italian studies at the University of Warwick. He says Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics was an obvious source for Renaissance thinkers. But there are lots of sources from antiquity besides Aristotle that are important, including Cicero and Seneca. And Augustine is extremely important as a conduit not only of Christian philosophy, but of pagan philosophy as we know.
