He was caught in entrapment by the vice squad who wanted to get rid of his studio. He ended up in prison for 10 days and never got his tapes back. The experience contributed to how politicised he became later in life, John says. And it's probably worth noting quite briefly that he was an incredibly litigious man - so were the record companies and producers he worked with.
