Islam differed from early Arabian society in terms of masculinity. Did Islam build upon the predefined roles and lifestyles of men or did Islam radically change for role and attitude of men? And I suppose secondly, how did the Sahaba acclimatize to this role if indeed the role was different to pre-Islamic Arabia?
