CNN's John Sutter looks at how supply chains have been designed to be more efficient. He says japan has a system of just in time production, where the stores only carry what they can sell. This makes it impossible for factories to increase their capacity when demand is high, as we've seen with recent toilet paper shortages. The john deer strike could disrupt America's status quomo even more than any previous one, he says.
