There used to be a joke that Chinese arms were simply Russian arms with Chinese characteristics. There's still a lot of truth to that in that the core of the Chinese space program was borrowed. And actually, if you go back to the 70s, in some cases, stolen from the Russians. But they really have done more than just adapted. They are a long way ahead of the Russians and the gap will widen between them. Both of them have done ASATs, direct ascent attacks. They've tested missiles that you fire from Earth at a satellite. So this was clearly a test to see if they could knock out other people. The Americans have done the same, so have the Indians
