On November 22, Gabriel Sherman posted a bombshell report from the New York magazine claiming that a group of prominent computer scientists and election lawyers were demanding a recount on three separate states. There was no basis for those rumors. Nobody has been able to confirm them at time and nobody has been unable to confirm in the three months since he was elected nor have they been able to confirmation to these days to this day. And nevertheless, the claim spread far and wide. The Guardian writer and editor at large, Zach Stafford, tweeted the rumor, which was retweeted more than 13,000 times before he deleted it.
