Stars typically never collide, but star systems can come in contact with each other. About 80,000 or so years ago, there was a star called Scholz a star that came very close to the sun. Is it conceivable that the Toba super explosion, Toba super volcano explosion, occurred as a result of tidal forces? I think it's unlikely.
