The Impact of Perma Frost on the Earth
Perme frost is ground that remains frozen for two years or more. 24 % of land in the northern hemisphere has perma frost underneath it. As planet earth's climate warms, this perme frost is thawing. In some cases, this is leading to huge holes in the ground which look like meteorite impact craters. When permafrost thaws, microbes decompose the organic carbon plant material in the soil and release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This accelerates global warming - a real vicious circle.
