The Power of Casual Observation

When we see somebody who has something that we want, we have no idea what else that person's going through. Notice how quickly you can jump from what you don't know about them to what you do know about yourself. And notice how if you're not conscious of it and you're not aware of it, you can feel in all sorts of spaces where you actually know next to nothing. If I were to make a list of some of the most miserable, tortured people that I have met over my time on earth, a lot of the same people would be on those two lists.
