The Social Illusion of Transparency

Conan O'Brien: As a high school student, it's understandable why you would be focused on your insecurities or the mistakes that you're making as you are trying to learn and speak italian. But i do think also that this experience doesn't just apply to people in a foreign country, because in general, our conversation partners are pretty charitable. People don't really care if you mess up or if you don't say everything perfectly. That's conan just how conversation works. And people expect it.
